Michael Thomas Cronin

Since 2017, Michael has practiced law as a Claims Attorney with SureTec Insurance Company, now Markel Surety, a national underwriter of construction and surety risks. In that capacity, he has been responsible for the avoidance, handling, and resolution of thousands of construction-related disputes. Those matters have involved pre-litigation, litigation, arbitration and administrative actions on a wide range of projects, public and private, involving varying issues of contract claims, delay claims, warranty, professional liability, and construction defects. During that time he served as a mediator for primarily construction and insurance disputes, including complex, multi-party disputes.

Michael obtained his formal training in mediation at the University of Texas Center for Public Policy Dispute Resolution. He obtained (and continues to obtain) advanced training and continuing education in construction industry dispute resolution and avoidance through membership and participation with the Association of Attorney Mediators, the State Bar of Texas Construction Law Section, the Austin Bar Association Construction Law and ADR Sections, the Forum Committee on the Construction Industry (currently serving as Vice Chair by appointment), the Surety Claims Institute, National Bond Claims Association, and the Fidelity & Surety Law Committee of the Tort and Insurance Practice Section of the American Bar Association.
