Alex Stephens

Biography

Alex is a Claims Manager, Claims Counsel at Suffolk Construction Company. Based out of New York City, Alex is responsible for complex construction claims across all insurance lines, including builders risk, subcontractor default, and commercial general liability.  Prior to joining Suffolk in June of this year, Alex was a Senior Analyst at AIG where he handled numerous high severity completed operations construction defect claims.  At AIG, Alex was an East Coast claims professional for general contractor captive insureds, which allowed him to learn the nuances of each insured’s captive program and the financial implications to the insured for each claim. In addition, he was a practicing attorney in Chicago for three years where he handled mostly commercial litigation matters. Originally from Michigan, Alex went to undergrad at DePaul University in Chicago followed by Chicago-Kent College of Law. He is barred in Illinois, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. Alex now lives in Williamsburg, Brooklyn with his wife, Katie, and enjoys travelling, exploring New York, and getting outdoors.
