Nigel Shepherd

Biography

 
As a member of PURE’s Claims Leadership Team and part of the Claims Strategy & Operations (CSO) department, Nigel is responsible for country-wide Casualty claims oversight, including definition of success, development of best practices, litigation & large loss management. Nigel previously worked at Aegis Security Insurance Company, as EVP and Chief Claims Officer, where he had executive responsibility for developing and driving an end to end claim structure within Aegis. Prior to joining Aegis, he served as an executive member of New York Property Insurance Underwriting Association’s (NYPIUA) Leadership team, where he held the position of Executive Vice President- Head of Claims and Operations.
Nigel has served as the Global Head of Claims for both Aspen Specialty Insurance and the Alea Insurance Group. He was part of Aspen’s Global Leadership Team, responsible for establishing and implementing a strategic business plan for the worldwide claims’ operation. He has also held positions at Converium Re, Nac Re, AIG and Allstate.
Nigel holds a Juris Doctorate from Pace School of Law, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Syracuse University. Nigel is a member of the NYS Bar and holds both the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriting (CPCU) and the Associate in Reinsurance (ARe) designations. He also has extensive Board experience, as a member of the Loss Executive Association BOD (2017-2020), NAAIA-NY Chapter Extended Board (2015-present) and an executive Board member of Mount Saint Michael Academy (2015-present).
