Biography

Kenneth P. Carter is the Vice President of Claim Operations at Merchants Insurance Group, headquartered in Buffalo, NY.  Mr. Carter has more than 29 years of experience in the insurance industry, beginning as a claims adjuster trainee and moving into a variety of claim professional and management roles for a large national insurer before joining Merchants as Litigation Manager in 2000, and serving as Senior Corporate Casualty Manager before his present appointment. He graduated from the University of Rochester with bachelor’s degrees in philosophy and cognitive science, and from Medaille College with a Master of Arts degree in Organizational Leadership. He holds the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation, and is actively involved in several insurance, claims and legal professional organizations, often assuming board positions, teaching continuing education courses, and authoring articles for industry publications.  Mr. Carter is an adjunct professor of management and organizational leadership at Medaille College and a board member on the college’s Leadership Counsel.  Ken and his family reside in Hamburg, New York.  Ken received CLM's Litigation Management Professional of the Year award in 2012.
