Biography

Erica Dew Crowl is a Partner and General Counsel with Mari Henry Leigh & Associates LLC. Erica has nearly fifteen years of experience as an attorneys’ fees consulting and litigation management expert. According to Founder and Managing Member, Mari Henry Leigh: “Erica’s ability to serve as a consulting expert and project manager on extremely large - almost unimaginable - attorneys’ fee claims, makes her an invaluable asset to the Firm. I can always rely upon Erica to deliver timely, quality analysis and run a tight efficient ship.” 
 

Erica’s work with legal fee disputes includes working with litigants, corporate counsel, litigation counsel, and insurers to handle a variety of legal fee issues, including resolving attorney fee disputes, assessing fee reasonableness and necessity, and determining the proper allocation and relatedness of legal fees. She also works directly with corporate clients in managing ongoing legal costs, developing and implementing cost control strategies and enforcing billing guideline compliance. Erica has prepared dozens of prevailing party fee petitions and responses, and expert reports for various state and federal district and appellate courts, and arbitration/mediation expert reports (including London arbitrations) regarding legal cost issues in almost every legal specialty, including, but not limited to: civil litigation matters, including patents and intellectual property, pharmaceuticals and products liability, class actions, qui tam suits, shareholder derivative actions, commercial contract disputes, and bankruptcy proceedings.

Erica received her JD from the University of Kansas, where she was captain of the National Environmental Moot Court Team. She received several awards and honors, including the Kansas Energy Law award and CALI Awards for Public Benefit Law and Oil & Gas Law. She holds a BA from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities, with a double major in both Political Science and Women’s Studies.
