Michael Simkus

Biography

Mike is an attorney, entrepreneur and industry thought leader with more than 24 years'experience as national coordinating counsel, trial counsel, and lead litigator throughoutthe U.S. in matters that include professional liability, product liability, toxic tort litigation,and class action litigation. He is a former United States Marine Corps JAG and has tried nearly 300 trials during his career.

In 2010, Mike co-founded A2SIX, applying his expertise and experience as a trial attorney to develop a pioneering legal services firm that consults with global businesses and law firms on e-discovery, document review and trial preparation. He lectures on ethics and conflict of interest, and is a leading best-practices advisor to international law firms and corporate legal departments.

Prior to leading A2SIX, Mike was a founding partner and Chief Operating Officer of iCorps Professional Services, LLC, a third-party claims administrator focused on professional liability, medical malpractice, and intellectual property claims.  Mike has created mediation best practices for managing large exposure claims, and is known for developing the triangle analysis for recognizing extraordinary claims. While with iCorps, Mike attended over 350 mediations where insurance policy limits were at risk.

Mike is a former Partner and Conflicts Chairman with the Chicago, Illinois insurance defense law firm, Gessler, Hughes & Socol, where he litigated complex liability lawsuits, managed ethics and professional conduct matters, and supervised numerous professional and intellectual property claims. Prior to this role, Mike served as a Senior Associate with the law firm Hinshaw &Culbertson.

Mike is a decorated, and formerly commissioned officer of the United States Marine Corps. He received his B.A from Lake Forest College and earned his Juris Doctorate from California Western School of Law.
