Biography

Ed Hayes is  Vice President, Claims - Litigation Management at Tower Group, Inc.

Ed works on various claims and litigation related initiatives and is working  on expanding Tower's in-house defense capabilities both in New York as well as nationally.

Ed is a graduate of Brooklyn Law School (Cum Laude) and New York University Law School, L.L.M., and holds the CPCU,with Academic Excellence, CLU and ARe designations.

After graduating Law School, Ed served for several years as a Law Assistant for Judge Gloria Goldstein, Supreme Court, Kings County, then briefly with a Plaintiff's personal injury firm, and began his insurance career with Travelers working as a Trial Attorney in their Staff Counsel operation. He has served as Attorney of Record for both the Home Insurance Company and Aetna Casualty & Surety Insurance Company. In 1996 with the merger of Aetna and Travelers, Ed took the position of Vice President at Travelers in their Commercial Lines Contruction Division where he assisted in the development of new policies and endorsements, acted as a liaison between Underwriting and Claims, and monitored and advised on the handling strategy of Large Losses.

Ed worked at Empire Insurance Company where he held the positions of Senior Vice President, Claims and most recently Executive Vice President, General Counsel. At Empire, Ed actively managed the Claims Department Operations as well as oversaw the litigation handled by both Staff Counsel and Outside Counsel and was a key executive member in the successful self-managed run-off of all of the Company's insurance operation
