Biography

William L. (Bill) Wood, Esq. is Vice President and House Counsel/Risk Manager for the Graycor Family of Companies based out of Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois.  In this role, Bill serves in an executive role responsible for the day-to-day management of all legal matters for the three Graycor operating companies that are leading providers of construction, maintenance and facilities services throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico.  Bill also manages Graycor’s risk management department and insurance program. 
 
Prior to coming to Graycor, Bill worked for ten years as in-house corporate counsel for three of the largest construction companies in the country (Austin Industries, Inc., Baker Concrete Construction, Inc. and Turner Construction Company).  Bill was responsible to oversee and execute all legal duties and project support to mitigate risk and legal exposure to the company on various issues relating to ongoing business operations and projects.  In his past roles, Bill was intimately involved with all facets of the company’s operations, by providing legal guidance and assistance on contractual matters, labor issues, dispute resolution, claims and risk management, as well as corporate training.
 
Bill was also a litigator in private practice for 10 years in Chicago, Illinois, where he concentrated his practice primarily on construction defense, defect and delay claims, products liability, automobile warranty/lemon law and insurance coverage.  Bill is a graduate of University of Cincinnati College of Law (J.D. 1997) and Xavier University (B.A. 1993).  He is a member of the Illinois Bar, 1997, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, 1997, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, 2004.
