Scott Harrar

Biography

Scott Harrar has more than 40 years’ experience in the handling of Property, Liability, Workers’
Compensation, Professional Liability and Construction Bond claims. He is a graduate of Bloomsburg
University. Scott joined The PMA Companies in 1987 and has held positions of increasing responsibility in
the claims area. Currently, Scott is the Assistant Vice President of Corporate Claims for The PMA
Companies, a multi-lines property and casualty carrier with a specialty in workers’ compensation. In this
role he manages Property, General Liability and Auto Liability claims. He also establishes Claim Handling
Guidelines for these lines of business.
Prior to joining PMA, Scott held positions with Harleysville Insurance and Penn National Insurance
companies.
Scott’s industry designations include the Associate in Claims (AIC), the Senior Claims Law Associate –
Gold Designation (SCLA), Certified Subrogation Recovery Specialist (CSRP), and the Certified Residential
Property Estimator (CRPE). He is an author of PMA Corporate Claims Training Program and the PMA
Claims Handling Standards. Scott also has served on the board of directors for the National Association of
Subrogation Professionals (NASP) and has spoken at their annual conferences as well as at Americas
Claims Event conference. He is a faculty instructor or CLM’s Claims College for Property.
