Biography

I graduated in 1988 from Spring Hill College located in Mobile, Alabama, one of the oldest Jesuit Institutions of higher learning in the United States.  In 1992, I received my J.D. from the University of Alabama School of Law.  Prior to my current employment with Maynard, Cooper & Gale, P.C., I practiced with Vickers, Riis, Murray and Curran, L.L.C., where I was a member of the Firm's Toxic Tort Practice Group.  I developed a defense practice on behalf of corporations involved in asbestos litigation and have defended them at both the state and federal levels in various courts.  For the last eleven years, I have served as lead Defense Liaison Counsel for all asbestos litigation filed in the State of Alabama (State and Federal Courts) and for Alabama cases filed in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and have had the privilege of developing numerous professional relationships with claims managers, adjusters,  plaintiff and defense lawyers as well as members of the bench .

I am licensed to practice in the State of Alabama and before the United States District Court for the Northern, Middle and Southern Districts of Alabama, the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and the Third and Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.  In 2011, I obtained the designation of Certified Litigation Management Professional (CLMP) through the Litigation Management Institute of the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance (CLM).  I co-authored the CLM Claims Handling Guide for the State of Alabama for use by claims professionals and members of CLM.  I am a member of the Alabama State Bar, the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association, The Defense Research Institute, the Mobile Bar Association and the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance. I also served as President of the Alabama Chapter of CLM and currently serve as Co-Chair of the Environmental/Toxic Tort Committee.
