Biography

Erin Salfen is an experienced litigator and general counsel who handles multiple types of civil litigation ranging from business/commercial disputes involving breach of contract claims, partnership disagreements, unfair competition and other corporate disputes

In her business and corporate litigation practice, among other notable achievements, Erin has secured summary judgment for an architecture firm in a multi-million-dollar suit by investors; attained a defense verdict in a trial regarding an alleged real estate contract breach; achieved dismissals for contractors and property owners in discrimination cases, and achieved a verdict for a general contractor in a construction defects case. She has also succeeded in obtaining early dismissals or defense verdicts for her clients in major trucking, premises liability, insurance coverage, and class-action cases.

In her labor and employment discrimination practice, Erin has successfully litigated and obtained dismissals of claims of race, sex, age, and disability discrimination, as well as retaliation, on behalf of her clients, and secured verdicts for clients where employees were misusing the Courts. In addition to litigating disputes, Erin also proactively advises her clients on various labor and employment matters including drafting and reviewing employment policies, process and procedures for addressing employee performance issues, and preparing and revising employee handbooks.

She regularly presents to and counsels clients and industry professionals on compliance, pre-litigation investigations, contract best practices, responding to and addressing internal complaints of harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and wage and hour issues, as well as consumer and employee data privacy, evolving employment laws, appellate practice, defending class action claims, and trends in construction and real estate litigation.

Previously, Erin was a Partner in the litigation department of a large national law firm and served as a Staff Attorney to the Eighth Circuit of the United States Court of Appeals. Prior to law school Erin worked as a broadcast journalist and corporate communications director.
