Biography

Christopher (Chris) Barnes holds the position of Global Head of Technical Claims for Zurich, General Insurance. In this role, he is responsible for driving technical excellence across all lines of business within Zurich, General Insurance. In addition he is responsible for the oversight of all large and complex claims on a global basis.Prior to his current position, Chris held the role of Chief Claim Officer for Zurich’s Global Corporate Segment for eight years and was a member of their executive staff. Chris was formerly Senior Vice President of Claims Field Operations for Zurich, North America, where he led the Claims offices in the US and Canada.Prior to joining Zurich, he served as Managing Director for Cambridge, a subsidiary of AON. He held numerous roles at CIGNA and ACE USA including president of their TPA, ESIS Inc., National Claims Vice President responsible for field operations, as well as a variety of senior technical roles. Mr. Barnes also held a variety of positions with Reliance Insurance in both claims and staff legal.Chris is a graduate of Duquesne University, completed the Advanced Executive Education Program at the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School of Business and received his JD from Rutgers School of Law.  Chris is admitted to the Bars of Pennsylvania, New Jersey and the District of Columbia. In addition, he is a certified ARIAS arbitrator.
