The education of claims professionals is important to CLM. That's why we established Claims College in 2012 and enlisted some of the industry's top professionals to create and teach courses within their areas of expertise in the College's eleven specialty schools. The Schools of Casualty Claims, Construction, Cyber Claims, Professional Lines, Property Claims, Transportation, and Workers Compensation are three-level programs. Upon successful completion of these Schools, students earn their Certified Claims Professional (CCP) designation in that specialty. The Schools of Claims Mediation, Extra-Contractual Claims, Leadership, and Litigation Management are one-level programs. Upon successful completion of these Schools, participants earn a Certificate of Completion for that program. Since its inception, hundreds of students have attended Claims College and nearly 300 have earned their CCP designation.

2021 Claims College

In 2021, Level 1 of all three-level schools will be offered virtually. Levels 2 and 3 and all one-level schools will be held onsite in Baltimore. All schools and levels will be held over the same dates, Sept. 9 to 11.

Certified Claims Professional (CCP)
Students must pass all three levels of a School to earn their CCP in that specialty. Each level consists of pre-course reading materials, in-class instruction, group projects, and an exam. Students may elect to earn their CCP in more than one specialty by completing studies in more than one School.

Level 1 students will be required to watch a recorded version of our half-day Insurance Industry Primer that is taught primarily by Chief Claim Officers.

Advanced Claims Professional (ACP)
Those who have earned their CCP or who have more than eight years of industry experience may seek to earn the Advanced Claims Professional (ACP) designation. The ACP signifies that a professional has the skills, experience, and knowledge to succeed in higher level claims resolution positions, including management roles.

To earn an ACP, students with a CCP will need to complete studies in two of the three following schools: School of Claims Mediation, School of Extra-Contractual Claims and School of Litigation Management. Students without a CCP will need to complete studies in two of the aforementioned Schools as well as the School of Leadership.
