As part of our mission to promote and advance the claims and litigation management professions, the CLM sponsors the CLM Professionals of the Year Award program.
In 2020, the program will recognize five individuals, one from each of the following categories:
- Claims Management
- Litigation Management
- Outside Defense Counsel
- Young Professional – Industry
- Young Professional – Outside Counsel
Award Criteria
CLM Professionals of the Year Award nominees will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
- Demonstrated a passion for the industry and a willingness to work hard for the greater claims or litigation management community.
- Developed a transformative or innovative process.
- Contributed to the success of their company or client through strong claims or litigation management practices.
- Active within the greater claims or litigation management community (involved in organizations outside their own company or firm).

Exemplifies CLM’s mission statement — looks to further the discipline through collaboration, education, communication, inclusion,
dedication and the identification and development of professionals with expertise in claims and litigation management.
Eligibility
- Nominees must be a CLM Member or Fellow.
- CLM Board members, vendors, and employees are not eligible.
- Young professional award nominees must be under 35 years of age as of March 31, 2020.
Nominations
Candidates may be nominated by a CLM Member or Fellow or by the candidate personally. You may nominate multiple candidates and all nominations must be received by February 10, 2020.
The Award
Finalists will be announced on February 21. CLM Professionals of the Year will be announced at the CLM Annual Conference in Dallas on March 19.
Each CLM Professional of the Year will receive an award, be recognized at Annual Conference, and will also be profiled in
CLM Magazine.
The CLM Professional of the Year Awards program celebrates the passion, commitment, and achievements of those in our community who inspire and innovate to develop their peers and advance the profession of claims and litigation management.
One winner will be selected in each of the following categories:
- Claims Management
- Litigation Management
- Outside Defense Counsel
- Young Professional – Industry
- Young Professional – Outside Counsel
Eligibility
- Nominees must be a current CLM Member or Fellow.
- Young professional nominees must be under 35 years of age as of March 31, 2022.
- CLM Board members, vendors, and employees are not eligible.
Nomination
Nominations must be submitted by11:59 PM ET on February 15, 2022. Only CLM Members and Fellows are eligible to nominate and be nominated. Multiple nominations are permitted and candidates may self-nominate.
Criteria
Award nominees are evaluated based on the following criteria:
- Demonstrates a passion for the profession and the CLM community.
- Advances our mission through collaboration, education, inclusion, and development of their peers and community.
- Contributes to organizational success through strong practices or development of a transformative process.
- Active within claims or litigation management organizations outside their own company or firm.
Judging
Nominations are blindly reviewed and ranked against the above criteria by the CLM Advisory Board. The candidate with the highest score in each category will be selected as the winner.
Announcements
Three finalists in each category will be announced on February 24, 2022. The winner in each category will be announced during the CLM Awards Dinner and Reception at the
Annual Conference on March 24, 2021.
Awards
Each winner will be recognized on stage at the awards ceremony with an engraved Tiffany & Co. award and be profiled in a special issue of the CLM Magazine.
