Chicago/Midwest Chapter - "Are Carriers Insane?" presented by Joseph Kearney, Director - Claims Advocate, Property, of Willis Towers Watson ("WTW"), at The Gage on May 2, 2024 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
Prior to becoming a Claims Advocate at WTW, Mr. Kearney was a large loss adjuster for 15 years throughout the United States, and also worked claims internationally. Mr. Kearney will discuss how insanity is prevalent in the industry, where insurance carriers make the same mistakes over and over, yet expect different results. The repeated mistakes, under the guise of an insurance investigation, only fuel anger on both sides and produces sustained insanity.
The discussion will include many of these mistakes carriers make in trying to bring open claims to closure. Examples of common and outrageous will be shared. We will also discuss possible changes that could be made to reduce the potential pitfalls and hopefully achieve different results that are positive for both the carriers and their insured.
