I’m excited to be writing my very first letter for CLM Magazine as its new CEO, and I’m honored to step into this important role. I’ve been a part of CLM for several years as a member of the advisory board and leading the educational planning for CLM’s annual conference. I’ve also been active with Claims College as a member of executive councils and teaching courses in the Schools of Casualty Claims and Professional Lines. I’ve also had the privilege of teaching a course for the Litigation Management Institute. Through those experiences, I’ve come to know so many of our CLM members, fellows, and staff. I’m delighted to work with all of you in the years to come.
I’ve been an attorney for 27 years. Most recently, I was managing partner of the Chicago office of Cozen O’Connor. When the opportunity to lead CLM was presented, I decided to leave my law practice and focus my energies on this amazing organization. I know that I’ve found my new professional home. The acquisition of CLM by The Institutes and our new non-profit status provides the ideal platform to take CLM to the next level with our focus on education and serving the industry.
The CLM is not one person or even one small group of people. The CLM is everyone in our industry. Over the next few months, we’ll be reaching out to learn more about all of you and how CLM can best serve the industry.
One of the most important initiatives that CLM has worked on over the past few years is the passing of the Universal Claims Certification to streamline licensing of claims professionals. CLM Founder and Former CEO Adam Potter worked to make this a reality over the past few years. In this month’s cover story on page 16, you can read about the launch of this exciting industry game changer.
