Claims Administration Corporation's vice president/property claims manager shares his wisdom on handling property losses

A Lifetime in Claims

Milone has spent the last 47 years handling property losses. He gained experience first as a field adjuster, then worked on the broker side, for an independent adjuster, an insurer, as a consultant, and finally to the large broker TPA where he works now. Milone shares his lessons learned over his long career, saying: “Never burn bridges you may have to cross in the future. Make it simple, make it right, make it work.”

Milone, who has championed many changes in claims over the years and has seen advancements in technology and processes transform the industry.

Active in CLM

Milone shares his time and wisdom with the industry in part through efforts with CLM. He was part of the original executive committee for the Claims College School of Property and was an integral part of the development of the curriculum. He is now co-dean of the school.

Milone’s simple but effective claims management philosophy that has helped him be successful for close to 50 years.

Leadership Lessons From Boy Scouts

Milone gives back to his community through volunteering as a Boy Scout troop leader. He says, “Managing a team of adjusters is very similar to a Boy Scout troop—they both learn by example, both come to you for guidance, both seek experience; both seek accomplishments. Scouts earn badges, adjusters earn certifications.”

“My wife and I love to travel, and I enjoy my family.”

Milone, on how he spends his time away from work. “I love hockey—big Rangers fan and my wife is from Montreal. I love sci-fi, fantasy, and crime movies.”
