As I settled in on the long flight home from CLM’s Annual Conference, I reflected on the incredible experiences and scrolled through a montage of images in my mind. So many smiles. So many friendly faces. The warm desert sun. But there’s one moment that really stands out. It’s not the keynote, or the bands, or even the amazing view. It’s these few words that jumped off the screen at the opening session:

Knowledge, Community, Inclusivity. Powered by YOU. 50,000 Members Strong.

Wow! Over 50,000 unique individuals who share the same passion for claims. CLM has always been member-led. We will always be member-led. It’s what makes our community so special. It’s what I value most.

So many of our members give of themselves to lift up our community. They lead chapters, write articles, serve on committees, and mentor young professionals. They also support their local communities by volunteering in shelters and raising funds for charities. In fact, 50 of our members volunteered at the FIND Food Bank and the Boys & Girls Club of Cathedral City during the Annual Conference. Thank you all for the generous gifts you give. I am so grateful for you every day, and since April is National Volunteer Month, I want to take this opportunity to shine a spotlight on your incredible contributions and invite our community to thank you, as well.

If you have ever considered volunteering, now is a great time. Sharing your time and experience not only supports the community, but also enables you to meet interesting people, make new friends, and maybe even learn a new skill. I have met so many wonderful people during my days as a member. And years later, they are still my friends. For young professionals, it can even support career advancement—HR executives agree that volunteering improves leadership skills and makes you a more desirable employment candidate. Plus, it just feels good to make a difference.

So, the next time you read an article or attend an educational session, please give a shout to those who gave their time to share their passion—they would love to hear from you. If you would like to get started contributing content, please check out the Our Network section of the website.

As always, thank you for being a part of our incredible community.

All the best –
