Matt Deming

Matt Deming is passionate about working with his boots on the ground and being fully immersed in liability investigations, which led to him being promoted to claims specialist in the Major Case Unit at Acadia Insurance this year. In this role, he handles complex, high exposure, commercial general liability claims. 

“I work closely with counsel or our retained experts to make sure that I have a firsthand look at the loss location, the people involved, and the obstacles standing in the way of the investigation,” explains Matt. “This allows me to produce in-depth reports for my file and have a thorough understanding of the facts of the case, which ultimately results in closed claims with positive outcomes.” Matt also excels as a young professional by sharing his experiences so that others can benefit from his work. He takes advantage of any opportunity he can to teach and mentor junior adjusters about his process on the road.

Matt also stays involved in technological initiatives at Acadia, such as claims-related product pilots. “With AI becoming a larger part of the insurance industry, I have helped Acadia in developing prompts for our AI models to review new documents and provide summaries for adjusters to either assist in their review of the document or help draft a note for their claim file.”

For young professionals entering the industry, Matt recommends finding an area of interest, focusing on it, and building a career around it. He believes the industry can recruit new talent by emphasizing that an insurance career does not need to be a standard office desk job.
