Leah Popple
Attorney, Callahan & Fusco, LLC
Starting her career at a plaintiff’s law firm, Leah Popple made a decision to join the defense side, a move that proved rewarding both professionally and personally. Just two weeks after joining Callahan & Fusco, she attended her first CLM local chapter event, and the rest is history.
Only three years into her legal practice, Leah proudly secured her first arbitration victory and achieved a defense verdict this past summer. She describes this long-running case as a major milestone, especially gaining the partner’s trust to handle the arbitration. Another notable achievement includes winning a motion to dismiss in a federal case for a commercial trucking client. These successes, she says, have been invaluable learning experiences in her early career.
Committed to supporting younger associates, Leah plays an active role in mentoring at the firm. Being relatively early in her practice, she relates well to new associates and summer interns, reminding them, “Everyone felt this way at one point. You’ll get it.”
Regarding attracting younger talent to insurance defense, Leah, like other Phenoms Under 40, believes outreach to colleges is key. She points out that many students make career decisions at 18 only to rethink them by 20.
Within CLM, Leah serves on the Young Professionals Advisory Board and is a member of its Professional Development subcommittee. She also continues to participate in events hosted by the New York City and Northern New Jersey local chapters.
