What are you most thankful for when you consider your career in claims and litigation?

“As the daughter of a small business owner, and now as a defense counsel who often represents small, family-owned companies, I am most thankful for those moments when the client turns to me with genuine relief and gratitude for demystifying a terrifying process, and achieving closure that protects their family’s livelihood and legacy for future generations.”

Dana C. Withers, Partner, Wood, Smith, Henning & Berman LLP. CLM Member since 2017.

“I am so thankful to have had the opportunity to continuously grow and learn from the complex, interesting, and challenging matters that have crossed my desk. I’m also grateful to work for a company that appreciates the work I do and supports me. I’m most thankful for the amazing people I’ve met and lasting friendships I’ve made throughout my career.”

Karen Rice, Head of Construction Claims, North America, AXA XL. CLM Fellow since 2009.

“I absolutely love my job in construction claims! Solving technical problems feeds my inner geek, although what’s truly important is helping people out of a jam—standing with them in the struggle and finding practical solutions to make their problems go away. For me, gratitude comes from service to others.”

Jack Levy, Attorney, Gilbert | Levy | Bennett. CLM Member since 2019.

“I’m most thankful for FEMA’s continued work and investment in a better National Flood Insurance Program. With a revamped rating system and new policy forms on the horizon, the consumer will soon have a much better product to understand and have adjusted in a loss. It makes it an exciting time to be involved in flood-related issues.”

Joe Rossi, Chair, Executive Director, Massachusetts Coastal Coalition. CLM Fellow since 2019.
