Solving Problems

The CLM is committed to changing the industry and solving its problems.

Late in David Coons’ excellent industry labor analysis piece this month, he throws down the gauntlet: “The real action item for all industry organizations is to build a strong talent pipeline now,” he says. “This means bringing new talent to the industry and integrating them for future success.”

It’s one thing to make a call to action; quite another to respond to it. How can insurers bring in new talent and connect with college grads while managing every other facet of their operations? The answer: Leave it to the CLM.

As an example, look no further than our inaugural eight-week summer internship program, which wrapped up with impressive results. Joe Schultz, a graduating senior from the University of Missouri, turned his CLM internship at Colony Specialty into a full-time job. Andrea McKay, a student at University of Connecticut, worked at Allied World Assurance. Here’s what she had to say:

“I was fully immersed into the U.S. claims team,” she says. “We were able to step into the role of claims analyst by examining new claims and drafting coverage analysis letters. I am so grateful for the CLM and my experience at Allied!”

And let’s not forget the first group of “students” who start on their Claims College journey this month, embarking on what is a new grassroots approach to claims education. These initiatives are all part of the CLM’s commitment to changing the industry and solving its problems. Be a part of it.
